Fiskkit is an online commenting platform (web app) that improves the discussion of news articles by allowing users to tag incorrect facts, bad reasoning or uncivil behavior. It is a place where people can comment on news line by line, and share their opinions through social media.
I have joined the Fiskkit team and have become the core designer since April 2014. I am in charge of all design-related tasks in Fiskkit. I work closely together with the engineering team to execute the design. With Fiskkit, I have gained experiences participating in startup demonstration, conferences, and pitching competitions.
Fiskkit has won the Social Impact Award in Launch Festival 2015.

Time Capsule Studio is an innovative photography studio. Different from other traditional photo studio, customers will be their own photographer, taking their own pictures with the pre-setup equipments in the studio.
I was in charge of creating and developing the brand identity and all design-related materials in this project, from the interior of the studio to the packing of the Time Capsule product.

Fanlala.com is fully responsive content site featuring teen entertainment and lifestyle. It gives teens access to exclusive celebrity interviews, videos, news, photos and a variety of fun quizzes and polls online.
Working as the Chief Designer at Fanlala, I was in charge of rebranding the company and redesigning the website. The old branding was considered as rather kiddy and "outdated". Project goal was to develop a modern site that could draw older teens to the site, expanding the target demography. Working together with the engineering team, we have developed a brand new responsive website for Fanlala.com, successfully increasing traffic by 30% in a month after launch.

ThatWasSomething.com is review site where parents come to get honest and expert reviews of the media and technology kids are consuming.
In this project, I worked with the UX Designer/Engineer together. We have conducted user research, created wireframes and make at least 5 rounds of iterations. Then I worked on the styling and the UI for engineers to build the product. I was also in charge of any graphical materials related to this brand.

Crixit.com is a fully responsive review site for teens to express how they feel about movies. There are different rating systems to allow teens to be "crxits", rating movies quickly and making noise like crickets.
This project was done when I was the Chief Designer in Fanlala, Inc. User testings and research were conducted to observe teens' behaviors on social platforms. I worked closely with the engineering team to execute the design and to conduct QA/QC after built.

Chinese Health Initiative (CHI) at El Camino Hospital addresses the unique health disparities in the growing Chinese population and to accommodate cultural preferences in education, screening and the delivery of health care.
Since 2012, I have worked with the team to design Chinese marketing collaterals and templates including flyers, brochures, and presentations under the hospital branding guidelines. I also assist in translating and proofreading publication content to ensure accuracy and quality.
One recent project is to design a 78-pages bilingual brochure for the senior community in the Santa Clara County. Around 2,000 printed copies were made. You can download the digital copy here.

WalkIn Photography is a real estate imaging and marketing solution provider for residential, commercial, and industrial real estate agents.
As a design consultant, I am involved in most of the design projects in the startup. I have looked into the onboarding experience of the photographic software, creating different UI assets for the website, as well as creating logo and other marketing materials for the business. Besides, I was in charge of creating the wireframes for a site-building platform that targets realtors.

In Fanlala Inc, I worked together with the engineering team to develop a white label online radio player for kids and teens. I was in charge of wireframing and designing the visuals of the player. In order to build a white label product, I have developed a system to allow clients to customize the player according to their branding guidelines in the easiest way possible. I am also in charge of designing more than 10 versions of pitch decks for various potential clients, demonstrating mockups of the music player with their branding guidelines. Clients we have pitched to include Fuhu, Mattel, Justice, Bebe, etc.

Fanlala Radio is a family-friendly music streaming service. It is the first service to offer unlimited streaming music for tweens and teens online and on iOS devices.
Working closely together with the engineering and marketing team, I have designed an iOS mobile app, an online music player, and marketing/promotional materials to promote for the brand and product.
